SACD
The SCD3.3 will play standard CDs as well as the stereo DSD layer of SACDs, but multichannel SACD content is not supported.
R2R
Shanling has built the SCD3.3’s discrete 24-bit R2R ladder DAC from precision resistors; it processes signals from CDs, SACDs and the rear-panel digital inputs. This isn’t the delta-sigma conversion found in most modern players (or DACs), but a more traditional multi-bit approach that some listeners prefer for its supposedly more “musical” presentation.
DSD
Featuring FPGA assisted I2S output with 10 modes options, offering Native DSD to almost any I2S capable DAC on the market. DoP DSD64 available for Coaxial SPDIF output.
Tubes
The output stage runs through non-bypassable 12AT7 tubes operating as a buffer rather than providing gain. This valve implementation should add a touch of harmonic richness without the maintenance headaches of a full tube output stage. Both XLR and RCA outputs are provided with options for line-level and variable outputs. The Eddict Player app (iOS/Android) provides the necessary ‘settings’ oversight and controls file playback from a directly inserted USB drive.

Features
Features
- True DSD Playback: Unlike many players that convert DSD to PCM, the SCD3.3 delivers a true DSD data stream directly to its internal DAC or digital outputs (I2S and Coaxial).
- Discrete R2R DAC: It features a second-generation 24-bit R2R ladder DAC module using 212 ultra-precision (0.01%) resistors, designed to provide a more organic, "analog-like" sound compared to standard chip-based DACs.
- Tube Output Stage: A dedicated tube stage utilizing 12AT7 tubes adds warmth, smoothness, and a holographic three-dimensionality to the audio presentation.
- Precision Transport: Uses a proprietary top-loading system with a manual lid and a dedicated CD puck, powered by an HD850 laser for stable reading of SACDs, standard CDs, and MQA CDs.
- Precision Chassis Engineering – Rigid, resonance-controlled construction with internal shielding and refined circuit layout.
- Digital Hub Capability – Multiple digital inputs/outputs including I2S, USB, AES, Coaxial, and Optical.
